Cabin Baggage Policy of IndiGo:

The dimensions of each bag should adhere to 55 X 35 X 25 cm, where the  Indigo Baggage Allowance is based on the flights you are travelling on, which can be seen as follows:

  • For EU, US, and African continent codeshare sector flights, passengers are allowed to carry only 1 handbag weighing no more than 8 kg.  
  • For AU codeshare sector flights, passengers can carry only 1 handbag, the weight of which can't exceed 7 kg.   
  • For all other destined flights, passengers can carry one handbag weighing 7 kg with a total maximum linear dimension of 115 cm and one additional personal item, such as a laptop bag or a ladies' purse whose weight can't exceed 3 kg.   

Note: 

  • An infant travelling domestically is allowed to take a handbag with a maximum weight of 7 kg and 115 cm of total linear dimensions free of charge. 
  • An infant travelling internationally can take one stroller or baby pram without any charge.  

Checked-in Baggage Policy of IndiGo:

A maximum of 23 kg is allowed with a total linear dimension of 115 cm or 62 inches, where the allowance varies based on the destinations of the flight, which can be seen below:

  • For domestic flights, each passenger can take 15 kg with them as checked-in baggage. If you have booked double or multiple seats, you can take an extra 10 kg of allowance in checked-in luggage. 
  • For international flights, baggage allowance varies between 15 kg and 30 kg, based on the destination you are flying to.
  • For codeshare sector flights, an individual can bring two pieces of checked-in luggage with a maximum weight varying between 30 and 46 kg, depending on the codeshare sector flight you are flying into. 

Note: Infants are not allowed to carry checked-in baggages. 

Excess Baggage Policy of IndiGo:

If your checked-in luggage exceeds the standard limit of the allowance, you don't need to worry, as IndiGo provides you with the chance to buy a piece of extra luggage according to your need, but as per the cost of the airline, where the cost for domestic flights varies based on the destinations includes:

  • For an extra 3 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 22 USD.
  • For an extra 5 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 37 USD.
  • For an extra 10 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 72 USD.
  • For an extra 15 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 106 USD.
  • For an extra 20 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 131 USD.
  • For an extra 30 kg of luggage, you will be charged up to 197 USD.

For international flights, charges for additional baggage can be seen as:

  • Up to 11,500 INR should be paid for an additional 5 kg allowance. 
  • Up to 23,000 INR should be paid for an additional 10 kg allowance. 
  • Up to 34,500 INR should be paid for an additional 15 kg allowance. 
  • Up to 46,000 INR should be paid for an additional 20 kg allowance.
