The crash happened into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C., and left no survivors. The number of victims who were identified was around 67.
The incident occurred around 8:47 p.m., and the collision was captured on a live stream camera at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. CBS News has verified the captured moment of the crash. Furthermore, it showcases that the explosion took place in the Potomac River area.
According to the FAA, the incident occurred when the plane was approaching a runway at Reagan National Airport. The aircraft had taken off from Wichita, Kansas.
In addition to that, it has been said by Fire and Emergency Medical Services Chief John Donnelly that at least 55 bodies had been recovered as of Sunday, D.C. In reference to that, the 55 victims have been positively identified, according to the D.C. fire chief.
As authorities continue to work to remove the wreckage, John Donnelly also added and said that crews will stay and search until all the remains are found.
The helicopter involved in this collision was on a training flight and had belonged to B Company, 12th Aviation BaU.S.alion.

As of now, the authorities have been there for the search of the victims, and they have recovered 41 bodies from the plane and the helicopter, which is said by D.C officials. With reference to the recovery, the rescue team is waiting for additional equipment to pull pieces of fuselage from the river in the hopes of reaching those who are still unaccounted for.
The Chief of D.C. Fire “anddon’tsaid, “We don’t believe there are” any survivors,” and he also added that the efforts at the scene have switched from a rescue operation to a recovery operation.

The captain of the helicopter was Rebecca M. Lobach of Durham, North California.

The way forward After this incident, the evacuation teams proceeded with the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder, commonly known as black boxes. As of now, the teams have recovered the black box from the crashed plane, which NTSB has confirmed. In the next step, the NTSB lab, team will start analyzing the complete data, and this site is located a mile from the crash site.
